The genus Anemone unites about 150 species of herbaceous, unpretentious perennial plants. Anemones are divided into species with summer-autumn and spring flowering. The first ones, as a rule, are used in plantings for flowerbeds; they are rhizomatous, the stems are erect, branched. The height of the shoots of anemone hupehensis (anemone hupehensis), which originated from the Far East, is 90-95 cm, large (5-7 cm in diameter) flowers have a mallow color. Hybridization resulted in varieties with simple and semi-double flowers, white or pink, of various intermediate shades. Hybrid anemone (A. x hybrids, or A. x elegans) - the result of crossing Japanese anemone (A. japonica), grape-leaved anemone (A. vitifolia) and anemone hupehensis (A. hupehensis). It is characterized by large flowers (diameter 5-8 cm). Many species and garden forms have simple and semi-double flowers of various colors, mostly white and pink tones. Types of spring flowering are also rhizomatous. They are used in stony gardens or grown as flowers for cutting. Petals and sepals (from 5 to 20 pieces) of Cup-shaped flowers differ in brightness of color. The length of the stem in various species and varieties varies from 15-20 to 90-95 cm. Pinnately-dissected deeply incised leaves are collected together in three. Let's name the most common types. A delicate anemone (A. blanda), native to Greece and Asia Minor, with star-shaped blue flowers. The variety 'Dark blue' has flowers with a darker color. In the variety 'Pink' - pink. 'White splendor' is characterized by white flowers. There are varieties with lilac flowers. The height of the shoots is from 15 to 20 cm. Crown anemone (A. coronaria) is a species with a tuberous-thickened rhizome (up to 5 cm thick). It is characterized by large single flowers of various bright colors. On sale there are varieties of a very wide range of flower colors, with the exception of yellow. Many garden forms have been obtained from the crown anemone, including two very popular ones grown for cutting. 'St. Brigitta ' - double or semi-double-with blue, scarlet, pink, purple and white flowers 15-30 cm high. Y 'Cajones' are simple flowers of relatively uniform color and the same height of the stems. Sparkling anemone (A. fulgens) is a natural hybrid of garden anemone (A. hortensis) and pavonina anemone (A. pavonina) with bright red flowers blooming in April-May. Very beautiful anemone varieties 'Multileaf' with many petals yellow. Buttercup anemone (A. ranunculoides) is a European species with small yellow flowers collected 2-3 times together. From the wood anemone (A. nemorosa) flowers of white and lilac.

Cultivation
Anemone, or anemone, grows outdoors; depending on the species, it can be grown in a pot, in a flower bed, or in rocky gardens. Species with summer-autumn flowering are planted from October to March to a depth of 3-5 cm. Types of spring flowering are planted in September-October or late winter to a depth of 3-5 cm.
Location
The best place for species with summer and autumn blooms is in partial shade. Spring-blooming species can be planted both in the open sun and in a semi-shaded place.
Temperature
The optimal air temperature for growing is in the range from 14 to 20 °C.
Watering
The soil should be well drained, but always slightly moist.
Reproduction
Anemones with summer-autumn flowering are propagated by sowing seeds in the spring. Shoots appear at least in a month. In a permanent place of their planting, the soil should be fertile, light, loose. Types of spring flowering are also propagated by dividing tubers and rhizomes in autumn. Hybrid anemone (A. x hybrida) can also be propagated by root scions. When dividing the rhizomes, they are cut into several parts and planted separately.
Diseases
Anemones are susceptible to various viral diseases that deform the leaves, cause mosaic disease on the leaf plates, mottling on the flower petals, which gradually deform and stop growing. In addition, the overall development of the plant slows down. To prevent viral infection, healthy sections of the rhizome are used for planting, which must still be checked for the presence of aphids and ticks. Rust, which appears on the underside of the leaf, leads to deformation and discoloration, the appearance of yellow specks on the leaf plates and compaction of petioles. Flowering in plants is also difficult or completely absent. In this case, the plants are treated with anti-rust drugs. Peronosporosis provokes twisting of the leaves and is accompanied by the appearance of dark wounds, on which powdery mildew develops in wet weather. These diseases are treated with appropriate insecticides. Oidium externally appears as a white powdery coating on the leaves, - get rid of with the help of sulfur (do not get on the blooming flowers, this leads to burns). The most dangerous pests include nematodes (the smallest, almost invisible), which affect both the roots, covering them with whitish galls, and the aboveground part of the plant. The leaves, stems and buds are eaten by the caterpillars of some butterflies. Fleas gnaw holes in the leaves. Snails can also cause damage. Use appropriate insecticides, and use poisoned baits against snails.
Acquisition
Choose healthy and undried sections of rhizome.
Hybrids and varieties In culture, there are many garden forms and varieties of anemone, or anemone, which differ from each other in different shapes and colors of the Corolla. For example, there are various garden forms of the crown anemone species (Anemone coronaria) with simple and semi-double flowers, pastel one-color or two-color. Under the name of the Japanese anemone (A. japonica), hybrid garden forms are known, which originated from several species. Simple flowers are colored in white, dark pink, red and purple colors, anthers are black, there are Terry forms. The garden form 'White' with white flowers is also obtained. Other types The three-leaved anemone (a trifolia) is one of the numerous spring-flowering species, growing up to 10-20 cm in height. In April, its white flowers bloom. Another common type of spring flowering is the garden anemone (A. hortensis), with fleshy tuberous rhizomes. The flowers are white or light pink, darker in the upper part. There are also species that bloom in summer and autumn. Forest anemone (A. sylvestris) is a perennial plant with a vertical rhizome with offspring developing into new plants and straight pubescent stems. White or cream-colored fragrant flowers, usually single on long peduncles. Received terry (A.s. var. flore pleno) and large-flowered (A. s. var. grandiflora) garden forms.
