Cultivation
Types of honeydew are most often grown in shaded flower beds in gardens and parks, as well as in rockeries. Light, sufficiently moist, sandy loam, humus-rich soils fertilized with leaf humus or peat are preferred. Effective mulching with peat or other organic material, which maintains a moderate level of soil moisture. When planting (autumn or spring), a distance of 30 cm is maintained between the plants. Compliance with simple rules of cultivation eliminates problems associated with diseases or pests.
Location
For Pulmonarias, the choice of a shady or semi-shady place is preferable.
Temperature
These are cold-resistant plants. In summer, it is better if the temperature is not too high (20 °C).
Watering
The soil should always be kept in a slightly moist state, watering the plantings more often. Regular watering is mainly important for young plants, as well as in dry periods.
Care
When caring for plants, remove withered flowers and yellowed leaves.
Reproduction
In order for the daughter plant to inherit the properties of the mother plant, they resort to dividing the rhizomes in autumn, when the leaves die off, or in early spring. As soon as the cuttings begin to grow, they are transplanted into the open ground.
Acquisition
Since the types of honeydew are quite common in nature, they are not too often found on sale. Planting material can be found mainly in gardening firms specializing in the arrangement of rockeries. It is best to buy medicinal Pulmonaria or varieties of narrow-leaved Pulmonaria. Choose well-formed and developed specimens.
